To orient you to the area, San Pedro is at the southern end of metropolitan Los Angeles. Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club is located about a mile from downtown San Pedro, which has a number of restaurants and activities. Downtown LA is about 15 miles to the north (can be a long drive during commute hours) and Long Beach is about 10 miles east (does not have a traffic problem, but watch for the speed trap between the two bridges - 45 mph). There are many, many chain hotels within driving distance and your choice could be based on price, location, or both. Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are about 30 miles.
Doubletree Hotel San Pedro (walking distance - and a $139 CBYC/Youth Champs rate). This hotel is the closest to the yacht club and right on the harbor. It is easily accessible for the sailors and
the recommended venue.
